Lesson Learned #151
The single best thing I did to improve my marketing and coaching was become a great listener.
I can’t meet someone’s need until I’ve truly listened to what they say, and what it means.
It’s the skill I don’t hear others talk about, but has been crucial for me.
Lesson Learned #152
When faced with a difficult choice, I’ve learned the best action is always the one that increases my self-respect.
That’s almost always the hardest action to take as well.
Hard actions taken now tend to make for a better life later.
Lesson Learned #153
The best advice I’ve ever received always comes in the form of questions.
Lesson Learned #154
I’ll never be happy if I continue to think that I’ll be happy one day.
Lesson Learned #155
I used to think I needed to get rid of anxiety.
That didn’t work.
The problem is not anxiety; the problem is the source of anxiety. It is a symptom, not a cause.
Now I do my work to understand why I am anxious, feel the underlying emotion, and the anxiety goes away.
Lesson Learned #156
I always–ALWAYS–go to the primary source for information.
Any interpretation from another is flawed, because people only understand at their level of intelligence and consciousness.
If I want to truly know, I must learned it myself.
Lesson Learned #157
I used to want my life to be about comfort or ease.
I realized that didn’t work.
I now try to make my life about growth and evolution.
As a result, I see all problems as benefits. What triggers issues within me is the way to activate my awareness.
Lesson Learned #158
It was a shock to me how few people care about facts.
They care only about the social consequences of believing a fact, and evaluate the fact through that lens. Truth doesn’t matter much if at all.
And most language from “authoritative” sources is designed to tell us how we are supposed to feel about a fact. Not about the truth of a fact.
Lesson Learned #159
I can push away whatever it is my body is trying to feel.
That’s always an option.
But the price of repressing those feelings is anxiety, depression, or anger.
Lesson I’ve Learned #160
I don’t believe anyone wants to be told what to do.
There’s something within most people that rejects being told what to do.
People will beg me for years to tell them how to do something, and I will give the prescription and then they won’t do it.
The point of sharing these lessons is to help others on their journey. If you know someone who could benefit from a lesson, please forward this blog post to them.
