Lesson I’ve Learned #121
Perfectionism is a compensation for inferiority.
I developed my perfectionism as a child to get a sense of control for feelings of overwhelming powerlessness.
I thought, “If I’m perfect, I can avoid feeling shame, judgement, and abandonment.”
Didn’t work.
Lesson I’ve Learned #122
I like Buddha a lot.
I like Christ a lot.
It’s noteworthy that Buddha was not a Buddhist, and Christ was not a Christian.
My goal is to walk the path of Christ and Buddha.
This is different from following the dogma laid by others in their wake.
Lesson I’ve Learned #123
In my experience, people who insist on using vague and abstract language do so to cover up their oppressive interpersonal power games.
Lesson I’ve Learned #124
The quality of my relationships, my parenting, and my life has never been higher than my level of personal development.
I’ve not found a way to be rich in life and poor in soul (and I did look for it, quite extensively).
Lesson I’ve Learned #125
I used to love telling people “the truth.” And my assessments were often right.
Now I realize telling people truths they aren’t ready or willing to hear is about my ego.
It’s a way to avoid my own issues, or worst of all, project my issues onto them.
The point of sharing these lessons is to help others on their journey. If you know someone who could benefit from a lesson, please forward this blog post to them.
